At the meeting with Cllr Stacey and the officers, Mary told them what local road users have told us and explained how she thinks the junction can be improved. Stewart Stacey and his officers listened and came up with some positive ideas to improve traffic flow as well as accepting suggestions from Mary and the Bournville Labour team.

The meeting was the latest in a series of actions Mary and the Bournville Labour team has taken to address traffic congestion in Cotteridge since she was elected in May 2016, in response to local residents’ concerns.

In 2016 members of Bournville Labour timed the pedestrian crossing lights on Watford Rd and found that the road was often closed to traffic for over 50% of the time. Mary reported this to the Highways Dept which identified a faulty computer system controlling the lights. This has been corrected, leading to a small improvement in traffic flow through Cotteridge.

Watch this space. Mary will let you know as soon as a definite decision is made.
